The key is to know when and where to spend your cursed cash. Should you die – and you will, more often than not – you'll keep your XP (accrued from defeating enemies and collecting treasure) but lose all your coinage. if you can survive long enough to spend them.Įvery time you enter one of its districts, the layout is randomly changed so you're always on the back foot. Any riches you find on the way are yours. With only a Castlevania-style whip and a bladed weapon to your name (and an unhealthy thirst for silverware), this first-person roguelike sets you a simple task: reach the centre of the city. The titular city is a nightmarish metropolis filled with treasure, traps and monsters in equal measure. ![]() While its sand-swept streets and shining towers may remind you of musical numbers and cartoon flying carpets, we can guarantee this is no Disney-themed adventure. City of Brass takes that tantalising prospect, wraps into a mythical Arabian shell and leaves it for the taking on Nintendo Switch. Naturally, you love pilfering shiny and sparkling trinkets, but just how close will you tread into the unknown to sate your desire for wealth? Will your avarice help break an age-old curse and claim limitless riches, or condemn you to an eternity of torment? It's an intriguing premise, and one that fits the oft-used roguelike template like a freshly-stolen glove.

![]() As it turns out, the single-player campaign is a roguelike, marbled with light strategy elements. To its credit, the shooter has interesting ideas. Ironically, it sets the expectations for Rockay City almost perfectly-a runny soup of random cut scenes, characters, and occurrences, haphazardly tied together by a plot about as coherent as a ChatGPT summary of Goodfellas. Make no mistake, this is one the sloppiest openings I've seen in a video game-even worse than Forspoken’s corny opening. ![]() It also features an all-time awful tutorial that creates a cacophony of visual noise that feels like it's meant to distract you from the poorly directed cutscenes and haphazard editing. I certainly felt under the influence in the game's opening moments, as Crime Boss jumped from fourth-wall-breaking scenes to an intense bank robbery to a shootout over a drug payload. Debauchery lies at the heart of Rockay City, a fictional Florida location where crime happens all the time and drugs run like water. “Live fast, die young, leave a good-looking corpse,” quipped a gravelly voiced Travis Baker, portrayed by de-aged actor Michael Madsen. It has hokey dialogue, boring missions, atrocious AI, and a bank vault full of glitches, bugs, and more than a few baffling decisions that stomp out potential fun. Although you might expect the game to be rife with an Expendables-like B-movie quality, Crime Boss: Rockay City stumbles at almost every turn. Making its way to PlayStation 5 after a muted debut as an Epic Game Store exclusive, the $39.99 shooter takes Payday’s heist-focused gameplay and sets it in the early 1990s with a cast of Hollywood actors pulled straight from the era. Crime Boss: Rockay City is one of the oddest video game releases of the year. Upon locating Bunker #317, the player learns of the experiments conducted inside the bunker that slowly led to the deaths of the scientists inside. There is a shadowy conspiracy, aimed at destroying all that is left of life on Earth. The wastes are dangerous and filled with gangsters, mutants, stalkers, and other survivalists. This remnant of a semi-legitimate military and scientific organization sent him out to explore in search of a special squad, which disappeared during the investigation of the mysterious bunker #317. The protagonist is one of the survivors of the nuclear holocaust, an agent of ATOM. Nineteen years have passed and it's 2005. In 1986 both the USSR and the Western Bloc were destroyed in mutual nuclear bombings. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic post Soviet Union wasteland. The developers involved in the creation of the game live in Latvia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. The game was created by the international Atom Team developers group. In 2017, in a crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter, the game was successfully funded with more than $30,000. The general idea and beginning started in 2008. The Fallout aesthetic is in many facets of ATOM RPG, it can see very similar choices in the interface, the color scheme, and the gameplay mechanics, but there are other influences, for example the sociocultural setting is characteristically based on the USSR. Linux, macOS, Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One/ Series X/ Series S.ĪTOM RPG is a post-apocalyptic role-playing video game, which takes place on the territory of the USSR in an alternative world after a nuclear war. Overall I love the game on the switch but I personally wouldn't get it on PC because of the kind of game. The story is kinda not even existent, the books voice is super annoying but the banter is "cute" between the characters. Some gripes are you can unlock all skills and powers very quick and then it looses some replay a bit after that. Has many many weapons to choose from with different abailites and stats. The game has 4 dungeons with 4 levels in each all random. The game offers many modes from 1hit game over, hard, boss rush, sugarrush where the game is sped up, heavy hitter to where your attack power is greater bit it's slower, to some others. However I picked it back up and put over 10+ hrs on the game. With that said I was some a little disappointed and put the game down for awhile. (My thoughts)įirst playthrough took about 1hr 45mins. ![]() ![]() Okay so I was excited for this game on the switch because there isn't much like it for that platform. ![]() Source Insight License Key dynamically analyzes and updates all information with the latest changes at any time.
